Alaska Blackfish (Dallia Pectoralis), is a species of Arctic freshwater fish that is typically found in shallow, densely vegetated areas of ponds and rivers of Alaska and eastern Siberia. These small and sluggish bottom-dwellers with elongated olive-brown bodies can live in water temperatures as low as 0ºC and are said to withstand even being frozen solid. Fully grown, Alaska Blackfish weigh only about 0.1 – 0.3 kg, reaching a maximum length of under 20 cm. These fish primarily feed on plankton and insect larvae.
