Arapaima (Arapaima Gigas) is one of the world’s largest freshwater fish native to the Amazon and Essequibo basins in South America. Arapaima are air-breathing fish that depend on access to surface air. These fish have long, torpedo-shaped bodies covered in black-green scales with red markings. It’s dorsal and anal fins are situated closer to the tail. Arapaima are usually about 2 m in length, with some specimens growing up to 3 m in length and weighing as much as 200 kg! The diet of the Arapaima mostly consists of fish and crustaceans, but these enormous creatures can sometimes devour land animals that happen to be near the shore.

How to catch a unique Arapaima? You can catch this fish either with bait or lures.
If you prefer to use natural baits, then the best way to catch Arapaima would be to use Large Minnows on a size #10/0 hook.
If you are more into artificial lures, you should go for some Jigging Spoons. The most successful lure is Blue/Silver Jigging Spoon 71 g, #7/0.
