Atlantic Mackerel (Scomber scombrus) is a fast schooling predator found in Norway’s coastal waters and the open sea. It ranges from the surface down to depths of 200 meters. Most individuals weigh up to 1 kg, though some can grow as large as over 3 kg. Atlantic Mackerel feed primarily on planktonic crustaceans such as copepods. They strike hard and fast, making them excellent targets for casting with light spinning gear. Their speed and strength on the hook offer plenty of action, and their flavorful meat is a welcome bonus.
