Bigeye Tuna (Thunnus obesus) is a large schooling pelagic fish of the tuna genus. It can be found in temperate and tropical latitudes of all oceans. During the day tends to stay deeper than at night. This fish can reach up to 200 kilograms in weight and up to 2.5 m in length. Tunas often flock with other tunas of their size. It is constantly in motion, actively feeding day and night. It can hunt in all layers of water, but spends most of its time at a depth below 200 meters. Compared to its closest relatives (Yellowfin and Skipjack Tuna), this one is long-lived and can reach the age of more than 15 years. Tuna’s main diet consists of small fish, crustaceans, and squid. Like other tuna, you can easily catch it using trolling.
