Black Drum (Pogonias cromis) are real giants among other species of their family. They can be found in the Atlantic, especially in lagoons near the East Coast of North and Central America. They can be distinguished by large scales, bulging snout and many tiny barbels on the lower jaw. The body is broad with a small hunch. Their name is descriptive of the characteristic sounds they can make. The weight of these fish can reach 50 kg, and their length often exceeds 1.5 m. Black Drum are long-living fish, with known specimens of about 40 years! They prefer to feed on molluscs, crustaceans and oysters.

If you prefer to use natural baits, then the best way to catch Black Drum would be to use Crab on a size #6/0 hook.
If you are more into artificial lures, you should go for some Buzzbaits. The most successful lure is Purple Dust Ribbed Shad 15 cm.
