Blacktail Shiner (Cyprinella Venusta) is a small freshwater fish native to the United States. This minnow prefers flowing water and is usually most abundant in areas with little vegetation and fast current. Blacktail Shiner has a slender body with yellowish-olive back and silvery sides. Can be distinguished by its prominent black spot at the base of the tail fin. Adults rarely exceed 0.1 – 0.2 kg (3.5 – 7 oz) in weight. This minnow’s diet primarily consists of invertebrates, algae, seeds, and insects.
