Caspian Roach (Rutilus caspicus) is a species of ray-finned fish of the Carp family, that is native to the northern and western reaches of the Caspian Sea, particularly in the Volga River. This fish usually inhabits fresh and brackish coastal waters, preferring to stay in the shallower areas. Silvery-gray in color, these fish are similar in appearance to Common Roach, and usually grow to a mass of 0.5 -1 kg, with unique specimen of up to 1.6 kg. The diet of fully grown Caspian Roach mostly consist of algae, crustaceans and worms.
