Common Bream (Abramis Brama) is a species of freshwater gamefish belonging to the Carp family that is commonly spread throughout Europe, generally inhabiting lakes, ponds and slow-moving rivers with plenty of vegetation and muddy bottoms. Distinguished by their flat and high-backed bodies, Bream are usually silvery grey or bronze in color with dark grey fins. Common Bream usually grows to 30-55 cm in length, weighing on average 1 to 3 kg, but it’s quite possible to catch a unique specimen of up to 5 kg. These fish live in schools near the bottom, and tend to come closer to shore at night time to feed on larvae, worms, insects and plankton.
