Common Roach (Rutilus Rutilus) is a species of freshwater fish that belongs to the Carp family and is commonly spread throughout Europe and western Asia. Being very adaptable, these fish can inhabit both freshwater and brackish environments and survive in temperatures close to freezing, but usually dwell in lakes and slow rivers. Common Roach is a high-backed fish that is silvery blue in color with reddish fins and red eyes. Mature specimen usually grow to a length of 15-40 cm and can weigh up to 2 kg. It feeds primarily on algae, aquatic vegetation, insect larvae, mollusks and other invertebrates.
