Crucian Carp (Carassius Carassius) is a European freshwater fish and a member of the common Carp family. Usually inhabiting lakes, slow-moving rivers, and nutrient-rich ponds, these fish are known to tolerate low oxygen levels and even survive for hours out of the water. Remarkable by their rich golden coloration, these deep-bodied fish are distinguished by their prominent scales and no barbels, which is their distinctive feature from the Common Carp. Being medium-sized fish, Crucian Carp usually weigh around 0.5 – 1.6 kg, with unique specimen reaching up to 2.5 kg. These fish feed primarily on aquatic vegetation, insect larvae and invertebrates.
