Flag-Tailed Prochilodus (Semaprochilodus Insignis) also called Kissing Prochilodus, is a species of tropical freshwater fish native to central and western parts of the Amazon Basin in South America, where it inhabits whitewater as well as blackwater rivers, depending on its spawning phase. These high backed fish are silvery in color and easily distinguished by their striped orange-black tails. Kissing Prochilodus can reach the maximum length of 38 cm with a record weight of 1 kg. These peaceful fish are vegetarians that feed primarily on algae and any plant food they can find.
