Golden Tench (Tinca Tinca) is an artificially bred variety of Tench, a popular freshwater gamefish of the Carp family commonly found throughout Europe and Asia. Varying in colour from pale gold through to dark red, the Golden Tench is often used as an ornamental fish for ponds. It specifically tends to inhabit brackish slow-moving lakes and rivers, preferably with clay or muddy bottom abundant vegetation and low oxygen levels. These fish usually grow in length to about 60-70 cm and weigh on average 2-3 kg. Similar to common Tench, Golden Tench are nocturnal predators and feed mostly on plankton, insects, small crustaceans and other invertebrates.
