Pink Salmon (Oncorhynchus Gorbuscha) is the smallest and most abundant of the Pacific salmon species. Pink Salmon are anadromous coldwater fish native to Pacific and Arctic coastal waters from northern California to Canada and in the west from Siberia to Korea and Japan. In their spawning phase after entering freshwater reservoirs, Pink Salmon change their bright silver coloring to grey or dull green with a light yellowish belly and develop a humped back, for which they are often called Humpback Salmon. Fully grown Pink Salmon usually weigh from 2 to 4 kg but unique specimen of over 6 kg can sometimes be caught. Pink Salmon feed on plankton, aquatic insects, crustaceans, squid and other smaller fish.
