Red Tail Barracuda (Acestrorhynchus falcatus). Imagine a Barracuda scaled down in size and transferred to the Orinoco and Amazon basins — and you will get a good idea of what Red Tail Barracudas are. Red Tail Barracuda have elongated bodies almost uncompressed laterally. Unlike Barracuda, they have their upper jaws hanging over the lower, not the opposite. Its tall dorsal fin sits closer to its tail. The back is dark gray, and the belly has a light silvery color, sometimes with a golden shade. You can notice large black spots above the pectoral fins and at the base of the tail. Its concentrated fierceness more than makes up for its small size up to 30 cm and weight up to 300 g — watch it attack other fish with its razor-sharp teeth. It refuses to feed on anything but fish, so don’t try to catch it using any other bait.
