Silver Bream (Blicca bjoerkna) is a European species of freshwater fish that belongs to the Carp family. Widely distributed throughout most of Europe and Western Asia, the Silver Bream generally inhabit lower reaches of rivers as well as lakes and ponds with muddy bottoms and plenty of algae to feed on. Being rather deep bodied fish, Silver Bream are similar in appearance to Common Bream, having dark olive-green back, silvery sides with pale fins and can be distinguished by its large round eyes and big scales. These fish rarely exceed 0.45 kg in weight, but in ideal conditions, Silver Bream can sometimes grow to a maximum of about 1.3 kg. Silver Bream typically feed on insects, insect larvae, small crustaceans and plankton.
