Sorubim (Pseudoplatystoma spp.) is a South American species of Catfish that are typically found in freshwater habitats of large rivers like the Amazon, as well as lakes and channels, where they like to stay closer to the bottom at maximum depth. Sorubim are easily distinguished by their robust bodies with tiger-like coloration: gray sides are covered with black vertical stripes and small black spots that span across until their white bellies. These fish can grow to a length of up to 110 cm with a maximum recorded weight of 17 kg. Sorubim are nocturnal hunters and feed primarily on other fish, crustaceans, shrimp and crab.

How to catch a unique Sorubim? You can catch this fish either with bait or lures.

If you prefer to use natural baits, then the best way to catch Sorubim would be to use Dead Lambari Fish on a size #7/0 hook.

If you are more into artificial lures, you should go for some Crayfish. The most successful lure is Christmas Jelly Crayfish 10 cm.
