Tench (Tinca Tinca) is a freshwater gamefish of the Carp family commonly found throughout Europe and Asia. It specifically tends to inhabit slow-moving lakes and rivers, preferably with clay or muddy bottom abundant vegetation and low oxygen levels. Tench look somewhat similar to Carp, and are distinguished by their plump bodies with very small scales, olive-green skin, and square-shaped tail fin. These fish usually grow in length to about 60-70 cm and weigh on average 2-3 kg, but the record fish once caught in England weighed almost 7kg. Tench are nocturnal predators, feeding mostly on plankton, insects, small crustaceans and other invertebrates.
