Ziege (Pelecus Cultratus), also known as Sabrefish, is a species of the Carp, widespread in Eastern Europe and some Asian regions. These schooling fish prefer to inhabit lakes, streams and lower reaches of rivers, where they usually swim close to the surface. Ziege is a greenish-silvery fish with pale, grayish-yellow fins. It has a straight back and a keel on its belly. These fish usually grow to about 25 to 45 cm in length, with a weight range from 0.2 to 1 kg. Unique specimen, however, can grow to a mass of 1.6 kg. These fish mostly feed on zooplankton, small fish, crustaceans, insects and other invertebrates.
