Ide (Leuciscus idus) is a freshwater fish of the Carp family that is found across northern Eurasia and has been introduced in North America and New Zealand. Usually preferring the clear waters of large rivers and lakes, Ide is a popular ornamental fish, often kept in outdoor ponds. Ide can be recognized by plump, deep bodies with dark backs, silvery-golden sides, reddish fins, and yellow eyes. They usually grow to a weight range of 0.5-1.5 kg, and only unique specimen can sometimes attain weight of over 2.5 kg. But the largest Ide ever caught in Europe was 5.5 kg. These omnivorous fish can eat anything from aquatic plants to insects, worms and larvae.

How to catch a unique Ide? You can catch this fish either with bait or lures.
If you prefer to use natural baits, then the best way to catch Ide would be to use Small Minnows on a size #2/0 hook.
