Jacunda (Crenicichla) is a small and agile relative of Peacock Bass often found in the Amazon basin (Brazil, Bolivia, Peru). You can recognize this pike cichlids species by its elongated body, long single dorsal fin and vivid golden color with characteristic black speckles on the sides and back. You can notice bright orange spots near its pectoral fins. This miniature predator hardly ever grows to be 30-35 cm in length and 1 kg in weight, but this doesn’t make it any less feisty. Jacunda would aggressively attack even those baits meant for larger fish. Fishing for Jacunda on ultra-light tackle can be great sporting fun!
