Orinoco Peacock Bass (Cichla Orinocensis) is a large species of Peacock Bass native to the Rio Negro and Orinoco River basins in South America that usually prefers to inhabit slow-moving blackwater rivers. These fish are easily distinguished by their tropical coloration: golden shimmering bodies with large dark spots on the sides and a blueish dorsal fin. Orinoco Peacock Bass can reach up to about 62 cm in length with a maximum recorded weight of around 5 kg. These fish are aggressive predators that will eat any fish big enough to fit in their large mouths.
