Silver Croaker (Plagioscion squamosissimus) is a quite large predatory fish native to the Amazon and Orinoco basins. This is one of the few freshwater species of the croaker family. Its body is covered with silvery scales with an azure tint, and there is a characteristic hunch on its back. Its slightly skewed mouth houses lots of sharp crooked teeth. The diet of an adult Silver Croaker (measuring about 80 cm in length) consists of small-sized fish and shrimp, while the juvenile fish prefer larvae and water insects.
